Diana Aldrete | Ice Cave | My work is under the category of abstract visual art on canvas using acrylic paint. This painting is from a series called “Cave”; and “frozen”, where I explored elements to describe the extreme of emotions. With the belief that water and fire are as fluid as emotions, these pieces explore how we layer and protect what is hidden deep inside us from the outside world. From an iceberg to lava, there is more than what we realize at first glance. As a queer artist this is particular important when it comes to not only my queerness but also the identity of being a professor and an artist—what do I conceal and reveal?
