JOIN FREE CENTER IN COMMUNITY to create a street mural
celebrating Middletown’s LOCAL LEGENDS.
This summer, Free Center is inviting kids from McDonough School to paint a mural on Spring Street that lifts up some of the incredible people from our neighborhood past and present.
All ages of kids and their families are invited to participate in this community project. There are lots of ways to volunteer and support Spring Free’s Street Art Community Legends project:
YOUTH + FAMILIES
- FREE community art-making workshops (five one-hour sessions)
- Work with a professional artist and storytelling team
- Support as an individual community member or a family/group
ALL OUR NEIGHBORS
Support our youth and get involved in this project that is about us as a community.
- Help identify the people we will feature
- Support youth with interviews, photographing, and recording videos
- Be a mentor to our youth through this project
- Help paint the street and coordinate an exhibition
- Spread the word: share and invite others
WHAT’S THE COMMITMENT?
- Attend Info Session at Free Center Tuesday May 31 (in person or zoom) 5-6pm and choose your interest in support of Spring Free.
- Join us for five one-hour “Tuesday Art-Making Workshops” over the summer in preparation for street mural and portrait oral histories exhibition. Free!
- Volunteer on the day of street art-making (Event in Late August).
