Leslie Printis  | Octopus |  Black hair has highly complicated care needs and an equally complicated history in America. While it can be a source of unabashed confidence and beauty for some people who wear it proudly, it symbolizes stress and can even be a source of embarrassment for many others who choose alternative styles. In this piece, I chose to show the hair outside of its usual context in order to bring some levity to the topic. I wanted to highlight our hair’s natural capacity for spontaneity and playfulness.
